Tom Goodwin
Tom joined Purcell full time in 2022, having worked for the practise as a freelance researcher since 2020. He studied History at the University of Oxford, focusing on the architectural history of early modern Britain. Tom’s interest in the period continued into his Masters in Historic Conservation, winning the 2023 Gus Astley Award for his dissertation on the importance of conservation in eighteenth century architectural culture. He is a full member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation.
At Purcell Tom uses his skills in fabric analysis and archival research to gain a strong understanding of the history and significance of historic buildings and places. Tom has experience working on a wide range of complex sites, ranging from the Parliamentary Estates to Brutalist megastructures.
In his spare time, Tom volunteers with the Twentieth Century Society and is an interviewer on the Society of Architectural Historians and British Library Oral History of Architectural Historians programme.
