Ellie Atherton

Senior Conservation Architect

Ellie joined Purcell’s Oxford office in June 2022, having worked in the field of conservation for over ten years. She is an AABC accredited architect, having studied architecture at The University of Nottingham and undertaking an MSc in the Conservation of Historic Buildings at the University of Bath whilst working in practice. Her thesis focused on Edwardian Free Style public buildings, and the importance of context and craftsmanship when formulating approaches to their repair.

Ellie has a diverse portfolio, ranging from sensitive repair schemes to Grade I-listed structures to wider appraisals of historic urban sites, and is interested in the potential to craft new interventions within historic contexts.

Alongside her work in practice, Ellie is a Part 3 external examiner for The University of Westminster, RIBA Northwest and The Architectural Association, and a volunteer mentor for the RIBA Conservation Register.
