Architectural Technologist - Palace of Westminster
We are seeking a skilled Architectural Technologist/Technician to join our team and play a key role in the restoration of the Palace of Westminster, one of the UK’s most iconic buildings. You’ll be involved in projects at all RIBA stages, with a focus on technical detailing and precision, working with Revit to create detailed, high-quality designs that balance heritage conservation with modern techniques.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and develop detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and specifications for projects using Revit, AutoCAD, or other relevant software.
- Produce accurate construction details, ensuring compliance with building regulations, planning guidelines, and industry standards (e.g., BS 19650), and client requirements.
- Contribute to the creation and management of Building Information Models (BIM), ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, and other consultants to ensure integrated design solutions and effective project coordination.
- Attend site visits and inspections to ensure work is being carried out in accordance with the design, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Assist in managing project documentation, deliverables, and timelines to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Engage with clients and contractors to provide technical support, explain design concepts, and resolve any issues that arise during project delivery.
- Incorporate sustainable design principles into projects, ensuring energy efficiency, environmental considerations, and regulatory compliance.
- Keep up with industry best practices and advances in Revit and BIM technology to improve project efficiency and outcomes.
- Learning, applying and sharing the core expertise and specialisms of Purcell.
- Working closely with our existing team for ongoing projects.
- Contributing to the development of a competent team
Skills and Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates who have the following skills and qualifications:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in architectural technology or a Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant subject such as architecture or construction and the built environment.
- Associate or Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.
- Strong knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD and other design software (e.g., SketchUp, Rhino, Twinmotion).
- Knowledge of Photoshop and/or other graphic presentation software.
- Familiarity with industry standards, such as BS 19650 for BIM, and the latest UK building regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to clearly explain complex technical issues to clients and team members.
- Collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team, with a positive attitude and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to produce precise and accurate technical documentation while maintaining a high standard of quality.
- Ability to manage self, prioritise, work under pressure, and to meet deadlines
- Personable, confident and with a strong sense of team spirit.
- Applicants must have been resident in the UK for at least three of the last five years, plus have a current right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
- BIM Certification through a relevant course to demonstrate an understanding of building information modelling (BIM).
